DENTAL ART COMPETITION 2009

Winning Entry:

Bruce Grove Primary School

Children from Year 4 made a sculpture of toothbrushes in front of Tooth-trolls which are germs that attack the teeth. Their teacher gave them a few ideas of things to make, and they chose this.

In another Year 4 class the children drew pictures from the play, teeth and healthy messages and stuck them up on the wall in their class-room.

Children from Year 3 made models of mouths with the teeth made out of polystyrene stuck into it. They also drew pictures from the play, with healthy messages written on them.

Dawlish Primary School

Children from Year 1 made clay figures of Karius & Baktus, toothbrushes and a model of a mouth with a healthy set of teeth. They also drew observation pictures of each others' mouths and pictures of Karius & Baktus

5-year-old children cut out teeth and decorated them with writing and pictures.
Children in Year 2 drew pictures of Karius & Baktus in the mouth, and wrote about how to look after their teeth.

Dessert was tin foil
Which he washed down with oil.
Then he said “What a fabulous meal!”

Year 2 drew pictures of Karius & Baktus, the dentist and toothbrushes. They wrote about how to look after teeth.

Year 3 drew pictures of Karius & Baktus in the teeth, toothbrushes and healthy/unhealthy mouths. They wrote poems and suggestions about how to look after teeth.

Year 4 drew pictures of healthy/unhealthy mouths and healthy foods.

The children sculpted healthy/unhealthy teeth, with and without cavities in them. They showed the layers within the teeth and they drew and wrote about visiting the dentist.

The children drew pictures of Karius & Baktus, of good & bad teeth, and which foods go with good/bad teeth.

Some wrote poems and others dew pictures from the play with text underneath it.
Tayyab from Year 5 wrote this poem about Karius & Baktus:

They are very bad
They make the dentist sad
They give you nasty teeth
So brush your teeth everybody!
